Assignment Interactive Educational eBook

In this individual assignment, we were required to design and illustrate an interactive educational eBook using several authoring tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, and InDesign. We were required to select our desired topic for the eBook, and also produce different types of digital assets (such as illustrations, videos, audios, etc.) which will accompany the eBook and aid readers to understand its content better. Assets used in the book will have to be based on a particular arts style and movement; It also has to be consistent throughout the entire eBook. At the end of the task, we were required to export our work into a flash .swf file, and to upload said file in a Behance post for others to download.

Concept:

The idea to create an interactive book on Ablution came about as I was attempting to find a whole new topic to work on. However, upon realizing that I would need to work with a software which I have no prior experience on using, I've decided to work on something which I know more on a personal level. Essentially I didn't want to enter an unknown territory and be trapped inside for an endless amount of time. After I've finally decided to work on Ablution, I then started to explore more about the traditional world of Islamic art of the medieval period of history.

Synopsis:

"The Ablution (also known as Wudu’), is a religious act of cleansing oneself, that is very important to the religion of Islam. Every muslim, including both male and female, are required to perform this act of purification prior to performing many different Islamic acts of worship (commonly known as Ibadah), such as salat (obligatory five daily prayers), touching or lifting of the Holy Qur’an prior to reciting it, and performing tawaf during the Islamic act of pilgrimage to Mecca, better known as Hajj. It is therfore, very important that every muslim, regardless of their genders or differences, should know the proper way of making their Wudu, which all of these will be covered in this interactive e-book."
